Ambient Lighting: Using shadows and highlights

Working with ambient light (generally without flash), I use shadows and highlights to create images such as this one taken using lighting from just the open window. For me, this is very important (specially in bedrooms of brides as they go through the make-up process as in this image) since using flash would not only kill the mood but also be a major distraction.

I sit before my newest baby and wonder – what does the future hold? That’s a tough one. Don’t we all wish we knew?

The winds of change are sweeping across the photojournalism world and the concept of a photojournalist is re-shaping, even as I write this. Experiments are already well under way in press rooms of far-thinking newspapers, headed by the visions of hardcore photojournalists.
